A New Eberron
Mark of Energy
Summary: The House Virdan is a relatively young house. Originally a guild under house Cannith, a particular group of artificers and elemental binders, of the Gnome race, stumbled upon an amazing breakthrough: purely mundane energy sources. Their first creation was a coal powered engine, weaker than the lightning rail, but a breakthrough nonetheless for its ability to be operated by those not skilled in magic with relative ease. Separating from the magical projects, the gnomes delved into their research, even as the Last War raged on. Somewhere along the line, the gnomes began to manifest their own dragonmarks, and with the marks came new possibilities. They mixed mundane and magic energy, creating machines more powerful than purely magic or purely mundane fueled creation. As time went past, near the end of the Last War, the young house made another great discovery, one that would change the world forever, digital capability. They crafted the first terminal, a closed circuit machine capable of few tasks, but an amazing invention nonetheless. They quickly advanced the technology, and soon all the kingdoms, as well as all the other houses, became their clients.
Leaders: Working in a variety of cities, the Virdan house has 2 leaders, Soteve Jubei (NG Male Gnome, expert 4, Artificer 5), who still favors Fairhaven, where he had worked for House Cannith, focusing on further the guild’s digital creations, and Billbo Geats, who works in the Mror Hold developing new forms of energy.
Guilds: Machinist Guild, work on creating such things as larger magi-tech vehicles, more powerful magi-tech vehicles, creating more powerful powder ballistics, and many hybrid and mundane invention. They often sell their gear to adventurers cheaply who are willing to test the equipment and return with information.
Silicon Guild works on the digital developments within the House. While the digital creations threaten House Sivis, Orien, and Kundarak, due to Terminals ability to act as security systems and message sender, because most terminals are closed circuit they are not good for communicating, and the House Virdan, very uncompetitive among the Houses, wants only to integrate their inventions into the businesses, not take them over, and thus many of their creation now aid the other houses.h1.
